Charles Nash

Charles Presley Nash passed away from complications from pneumonia on July 15, 2007. He served for over 15 years as an active leader in the Faculty Association, both on the Davis campus and statewide. Throughout this time, he generously applied his unusually detailed and broad knowledge of the campus and university-wide process of shared governance to support the faculty as a whole and to support fair treatment of individuals in their relations with the Senate and the Administration. He devoted much of his life working to make life better for others through advocacy and action.

The Charles P. Nash Prize

The Nash family, the Academic Senate, the Davis Faculty Association and the Academic Federation are jointly creating a Prize to honor the outstanding contributions that Charles P. Nash made to the University community. The Charles P. Nash Prize will be funded through contributions from the Nash family members, and donations from individuals wishing to honor his accomplishments and to inspire others to emulate his commitment. Information about making a donation is available from this form [PDF], or contact mhays@ucdfa.org.
